Model identity matters: Nokia 6300 4G (announced 2020) is NOT the original 2007 Nokia 6300. Nokia 235 4G 2nd Edition (2026) is NOT the 2024 first edition. The original 5310 (2007) charges through a separate 2 mm connector. Do not confuse 4G data support with guaranteed Czech VoLTE calling.
Feature status WorksConditionalLimitedUnavailable in 2026Not built inUnavailable in 2026 = originally existed, but no longer usable because networks, servers, authentication or compatibility changed. Not built in = the model never had that function. Grey and red are both unusable today, but for different reasons.
Historical availability matters: A feature that never existed is grey; a feature originally present but lost by 2026 is red. For example, Nokia 5310 (2007) has no 3G radio (grey), while E52 has a 3G radio but no Czech 3G network (red). The 2026 Nokia 235 2nd Edition has a 3G radio but Czech networks were already switched off before its release; the network is red because the radio exists but the service is gone. Original KaiOS WhatsApp/Google Assistant on 6300, 8000 and 8110 is red after its retirement; the Nokia 235 never included those exact KaiOS services (grey).

Changes to column order and width immediately affect every comparison table, including hardware specifications. In A → B mode the order is fixed to A, B; use Swap to reverse.

Directional comparison — where is phone A worse than phone B?

Unlike “Differences only”, this one-way filter shows rows where A has less capability than B. Choose whether to include potential gains, where B has only conditional or limited support. Compare exactly two phones; proprietary connector formats and brand names alone are not ranked.

One-way rule: CLEAR if A is Conditional / Limited / Unavailable in 2026 / Not built in and B Works. POTENTIAL if A is Unavailable in 2026 or Not built in and B is Conditional / Limited. A red versus grey result is not scored as a functional advantage: neither works today. The two weaker categories are not assumed to be ranked against each other. Quantitative hardware differences use five specified axes, never missing values. Updates apply instantly.

Filter updates appear immediately. Directional mode automatically shows exactly two columns.

9. Czech cellular networks and MMS in 2026

All twelve can register on GSM 900/1800 MHz in compatible European variants. Czech 3G is retired. Four newer Nokias additionally have 4G LTE radios (EU bands matter), but VoLTE calling still depends on the operator, SIM, firmware and provisioned IMS profile.

Voice and SMSGSM 2G / VoLTE conditional

2G on all twelve; LTE data on four 4G Nokias; voice over LTE must be tested on a Czech operator.

3G/HSPARetired in Czechia

5310 never supported 3G; the others cannot use retired Czech 3G infrastructure.

2G continuityJune 2028

Regulatory condition, not guaranteed everywhere.

Czechia: 2G continuity obligation currently extends until the end of June 2028, subject to a low-demand exception. 3G is already shut down. 4G coverage and supported LTE bands do not automatically imply VoLTE compatibility with Czech operators. MMS may still be available with the correct APN; legacy clients require real-device testing. Keep an adequately supported 4G backup for emergencies.

11. Practical verdict for 2026

Nokia 5630

Very compact Symbian music phone, S60 apps, dedicated music buttons, Micro-USB charging; no built-in GPS.

Nokia E52

Strongest office-oriented native functions and large original battery, plus standalone GPS.

Sony Ericsson K850i

5 MP autofocus and xenon still-photo flash; proprietary FastPort, no Wi-Fi or GPS.

Sony Ericsson W995

Best original multimedia hardware blend: Walkman, 8.1 MP, Wi-Fi, GPS, stereo speakers.

Sony Ericsson Cedar

2010 minimalist with accessible Micro-USB/3.5 mm/microSD, but limited camera and no Wi-Fi/GPS.

Nokia 5310 (2007)

Smallest/lightest here, dedicated music keys, DAC-33, 3.5 mm, FM/RDS; no 3G/Wi-Fi/GPS. Must charge via Nokia 2 mm connector.

Nokia 6300 4G (2020)

Most flexible keypad internet option here: LTE, hotspot, GPS/GLONASS and KaiStore. Weak VGA camera; WhatsApp/Google Assistant have ended.

Nokia 8000 4G (2020)

Larger-screen KaiOS sibling of the 6300 4G: 2.8-inch display, 2 MP + LED camera, LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS/GLONASS and FM. Heavier and still vulnerable to expired KaiOS services; VoLTE compatibility in Czechia must be tested.

Nokia 8110 4G (2018)

Iconic slider and LTE/Wi-Fi/GPS hardware with older KaiOS and retired messaging integrations.

Nokia 235 4G 2nd Edition (2026)

Most recent model: LTE, USB-C, dual nano-SIM, 2.8-inch display, headset-free FM and front camera. No Wi-Fi/GPS; AI/Xpress Chat network-dependent.

Samsung S5610

Very capable 2G/3G keypad camera phone: genuine 5 MP autofocus, FM-radio recording, Java ME and torch shortcut, but no 4G/Wi-Fi/GPS.

Samsung S5611

Updated storage and UI over S5610 with the same 5 MP autofocus, FM and Java ME. No native torch shortcut; no LTE/Wi-Fi/GPS. Inspect firmware and charging socket.

12. User-reported problems that still matter in 2026

Czech and English owner reports for all 12 phones, screened for defects and design problems still relevant to 2026 purchases. Reports do not establish incidence rates. Cards follow the selected devices and their custom left-to-right order; in directional mode only the A/B cards appear and do not affect the feature score.

What is included: hardware wear, usability, persistent software defects and purchase/region risks that affect calls, SMS, offline use or everyday ownership today.
What is excluded: broken WhatsApp/old Nokia services, retired 3G, 2009 prices, old network coverage complaints and model mix-ups. Those are already accounted for in the main functionality tables.
Evidence warning: reports establish possible symptoms, not failure rates. Several models have strongly mixed owner experiences. The 2026 Nokia 235 2nd Edition has too little ownership evidence for an honest list of recurring hardware defects.

  2. Shorter runtime when used as a music playerBattery / daily use

A Czech owner reported roughly two days with SMS/calls and approximately one day when listening to music heavily. The small original battery compounds ageing risk.

Test when buying: Use a healthy replacement battery and test several hours of music, standby and a call before trusting it as your only phone.

  3. Small softkeys and occasionally weak call/loudspeaker volumeErgonomics / audio

Reviewers and owners noted easy-to-miss softkeys and modest loudspeaker levels; a Czech 2026 buyer also found the compact keypad and low volume unsuitable for their needs.

Test when buying: Try keypad in one hand and test ringing, earpiece and speakerphone volume in noise.

Sony Ericsson K850i (2007)

Known boot and touch-button failures make a fully demonstrated working unit essential.

4 checks
  1. Blue-ring startup failure / dead handsetBoot / critical fault

Owners describe boot failure with the camera ring lighting while the handset does not finish starting. This may be repairable with legacy flashing, but the original service ecosystem is gone.

  3. Bright sunlight readability and small menu fontsDisplay / everyday usability

Some period reviewers and buyers find the small QVGA screen difficult in strong sunlight. This weakness still applies in 2026.

Test when buying: Open Messages and Contacts outdoors; decide whether font size and contrast suit you.

  4. Intermittent USB charging and ageing keypad (individual reports)Wear / condition, not a measured defect rate

Old units can develop dirty charging contacts or nonresponsive keys; owner reports are anecdotal, not evidence that all S5610s fail.

Test when buying: Try multiple charging cycles, all twelve keys and USB mass-storage mode.

  1. No independent flashlight toggle unlike S5610Confirmed firmware/design difference

Czech S5611 owners explicitly report that holding the navigation key does not turn on the LED as on the S5610. Camera flash still works.

Test when buying: Try switching on the LED without opening the camera; do not assume the predecessor shortcut exists.

  2. Small fonts and sometimes unintuitive menusUsability

Reviewers and Czech owners note small text and interface differences versus earlier Samsung firmware. This is still relevant offline.

Test when buying: Navigate contacts, text entry, shortcuts and calendar rather than judging from the home screen.

  3. Call/SMS notification icons behave unexpectedly (some reports)Software / firmware variability

A subset of users describe confusing missed-call or message indicators. No reproducible failure rate or universal defect is established.

  4. Charging contact or audio problems (isolated owner reports)Condition-specific, limited evidence

Some buyers reported charging failures or mediocre recordings. These are isolated anecdotes and may reflect individual old units rather than a model-wide defect.

Test when buying: Charge by cable for 15 minutes; record/play voice and FM audio; inspect the Micro-USB slider cover.

Reports are original owner/reviewer observations. The specific inspections above are practical recommendations inferred from the reported symptoms, not manufacturer-approved diagnostic procedures. The source links lead to the original discussions or seller reviews. A dead battery, a non-original refurbishment or a broken part can explain a symptom without proving it is inherent to the model.

Directional methodology: CLEAR advantage means A is Conditional, Limited, Unavailable in 2026, or Not built in, while B Works. POTENTIAL advantage means A is Unavailable in 2026 or Not built in and B is Conditional or Limited; this does NOT guarantee B works. Both red and grey are currently unusable, but only red means formerly supported software/service or present hardware stranded by external shutdown; grey means never built in. A red-vs-grey difference never counts as a usable functional advantage in either direction. Strict mode hides potential advantages. Proprietary connector branding or model-specific interface names alone are not ranked. Conditional and Limited are deliberately not ordered against each other. Hardware gaps are based only on documented numeric values, with higher camera MP/display diagonal/nominal battery capacity and lower weight/thickness counted by their declared axis. Camera resolution, capacity or size alone do not establish better photos, battery life or everyday usability. Historical maps, firmware installations and retired online services are not guaranteed. Nokia 5310 (2007) is not the 2020/2024 reissue.
